A gut diary you can bring to your doctor

Log food, symptoms, sleep, and exercise. Gut Feelings lines them up so you can see what shows up with how you feel.

What you can track

Food

Log a meal with a photo, your voice, a barcode, or search. The food list includes FODMAP and allergen information.

Symptoms, mood, and stress

Record digestive symptoms with timing and severity, along with mood and stress.

Sleep and exercise

Import sleep, heart rate, and exercise from Apple Health if you choose to connect it.

Patterns

The app compares food, symptoms, sleep, exercise, mood, and stress, including reactions that show up days later.

Reports

Export a PDF you can bring to a doctor.

Privacy

Your diary is stored on your iPhone. Face ID or Touch ID can lock the app. If you sign in, a copy syncs to your Gut Feelings account. Health information is not sold.

How it works

  1. Set up

Download the app. Connect Apple Health if you want sleep and exercise imported.

  2. Log meals

Use a photo, your voice, a barcode, or search. FODMAP and allergen details are included where the food list has them.

  3. Record how you feel

Log symptoms, mood, and stress through the day.

  4. Look for patterns

After a few days, the app starts lining up foods, sleep, and stress with your symptoms.

  5. Share it

Export a report for your doctor.

What a pattern can show

  1. A delayed reaction

A meal from two days ago may line up with bloating today. A short night of sleep may line up with a harder morning.

  2. More than one factor

Sometimes it is the food together with stress or poor sleep, not the food alone.

  3. A record of what you tried

Change one thing, keep logging, and see whether symptoms change.

  4. Something to show your doctor

The PDF is a record of what you logged, not a diagnosis.

How it compares

Where your diary lives

Food, symptoms, sleep, and exercise are stored in the app on your iPhone. You can lock the app with Face ID or Touch ID. The app does not sync the diary through iCloud.

If you sign in, a copy is sent over HTTPS so you can restore it. That copy is not end-to-end encrypted, because the app has to read it to sync. You can export or delete your data from the app.
